Abstract

The sharing economy has emerged as a transformative force in the modern marketplace, disrupting traditional business models and creating new opportunities for consumers and entrepreneurs alike. However, this paradigm shift presents a myriad of regulatory challenges that policymakers and industry stakeholders must navigate. This paper delves into the key regulatory challenges faced by the sharing economy, focusing on issues such as consumer protection, data privacy, market competition, and labor rights. It argues that while the sharing economy offers significant benefits, it also necessitates a careful balance between fostering innovation and ensuring the well-being of its participants. The paper examines case studies of successful and problematic sharing economy platforms, highlighting the complexities of creating effective regulatory frameworks. Furthermore, it proposes a set of recommendations for policymakers to address these challenges, emphasizing the need for flexibility, transparency, and collaboration between different sectors.
